GET A WORKLIFE

Hi there! I’m Cait:

a worklife design coach based in Montreal.

From designing things to helping people design work that feels good. I believe everyone has the chance to build a worklife that actually means something.

Have you ever wondered what it would take to feel alive at work again?

Work plays a huge role in our lives. The interplay of the people we work with, the projects we devote our attention to, and our relationship with ourselves can make it a joy or a nightmare. Too often, quick advice targets the surface stuff: the calendar, the team, the promotion. It skips the real questions: how do we actually want to live our working life, and what conditions bring out our best? I want to help you feel alive at work again.

Out of the head and into the body.

I was done pretending I was fine. I took time off. With the help of a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I got to know my nervous system and something clicked.

I realized that I’d spent most of my life operating from the cognitive – thinking, evaluating options, setting goals – and had inadvertently blocked out all the rich, physical data my body was telling me – whether I liked something or not, what I really wanted, what ‘no’ felt like. I realized this was a missing link for a lot of people who live in their heads all day, myself included.

Coaching that bridges somatic awareness with design thinking.

I'd trained as a goal-centric certified coach at Concordia University years earlier, but my demanding corporate job didn’t leave room to build my practice.

After my reset and discovering the power of somatic work, I was reinvigorated. I had built a fuller life on the other side, and I had found the secret sauce to build the coaching practice I dreamed of. I started training in Somatic Experiencing.

The parts I loved about leading teams weren’t the roadmaps, they were the one-on-one moments: real feedback, real connection, watching someone figure something out right in front of me. Coaching is where I get to do only that.

“I’d become a robot, going through the motions on the outside, while something had switched off on the inside.”

I spent years chasing someone else’s dream...

Under the veneer of my successful life was a dull, persistent feeling of inadequacy and a craving to be the hero. My success at work gave me the dopamine hits, and like any addiction, it slowly crowded out the other things.

Full steam all work day, catatonic on the couch by 7pm. Sundays for dread. A mini-burnout every few months, written off as the cost of a good desk job. One year was especially brutal: a product I didn't believe in, constant political conflict, late night calls. I didn't realize until later how much it cost me mentally, and how unnecessary my suffering was. In retrospect, I was so focused on performance that I lost myself in the shuffle. I'd become a robot, going through the motions on the outside, while something had switched off on the inside. Then my mom got sick and the floor caved in.

Suddenly the deadlines, the performance reviews, the bone-deep exhaustion – all of it felt absurd. What if I lost my mom, and I'd spent the time I had left with her chasing something nobody would even remember in five years? What had any of it been for?

I help people stop performing and start listening to what they actually want.

I’ve always been drawn to work – how we can use our energy to shape things and improve them.

I spent 20 years in the hustle. Head of Design for Financial Services at a global tech company, leading managers and designers in a complex organization. Back before ChatGPT came out, I was earning patents on new products at an AI company. Earlier, sitting with founders, helping them articulate their vision.

Reinvention has always been part of who I am. I've got a bias to action, a designer's instinct to build the next thing and see what happens. But somewhere along the way, I lost sight of why I was doing any of it. I started chasing the corporate ladder instead.

So many people have more agency than they think they do.
With the right help, they could change their situation, but stay put for years instead. I believe life's too short for that.

Have the therapy, books and AI chats run their course? Maybe you're putting too much stock into other people's solutions instead of designing your own.

We’ll look at the whole you – how you see, how you think, how you feel in your body. And we’ll look at the whole situation – your job, your life, your relationships. And from there, you’ll get the insight you need to design your own strategy with the clarity and confidence to actually follow through.

The first move is easier than you think.

No decision, no plan, no commitment required. Book a free conversation and treat it as one small experiment: just see what comes up.
